Climate Change and Water Management

The impacts of climate change on water resource management in the Kansas City region will be both complex and profound. Future stormwater management efforts will confront increased frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events. In this context, building a shared understanding of what resilient infrastructure means will be fundamental to help the region adapt to changing conditions. Presenters Joshua K. Roundy, Lee Kellenberger and Stacy Hutchinson set the stage for updating the APWA Section 5600 and the MARC /APWA BMP manual.

MOST Policy Initiative

The MOST Policy Initiative, part of the Missouri Local Science Engagement Network, co-hosted a stormwater webinar alongside Mid-America Regional Council on April 5, 2022. The topic was stormwater runoff in the state of Missouri, and panelists included Tom Jacobs from MARC, Robin Rotman, JD, from the University of Missouri, and Joel Burken, PhD, P.E., from Missouri S & T.
